Fiji, J-Boog, Laga Savea, Kiwini and Siaosi of Lost Coast Sound together with Florida based alternative rock band Amely, rocked out the Bluesky 10th Anniversary Concert to a capacity crowd at the Veteran’s Memorial Stadium on Friday night. The estimated 6000 strong crowd is believed to be the largest event staged at the stadium topping the number of attendees at the Pacific Arts Festival.
Early signs of rain proved no obstacle as concert goers came out in droves to see Lost Coast Sound and Amely, both of whom had never before performed in American Samoa. The show MC’s were Real Diehl and G-Man and winners of a Bluesky dance competition at the Beach Bash earlier in the day on Friday, Flower Power opened the show with a few energetic numbers. Amely followed up with intense performances of songs off their debut album EP including hit single, I’d Rather Be Alone. Lost Coast singers, J-Boog, Kiwini & Siaosi entertained the crowd with island reggae including J-Boog’s popular songs “Love Season” and “Hear Me Roar”.
The show was closed by headliner Fiji, who sang his classic version of “Sosefina” to thousands of screaming fans. The concert is one of the biggest entertainment events staged in American Samoa. “The concert was a great success, we put it on for our customers and we’re happy the people of American Samoa enjoyed this part of our 10th year anniversary celebration,” said a Bluesky representative.
